Il Forte San tra il dominio spagnolo e Napoleone
Forte San Giacomo sorge sulla sommità di una scogliera del promontorio che domina la baia e il paese di Porto Azzurro.. Risale al XVII secolo, quando Porto Longone era sotto il dominio spagnolo.Fu costruito a partire dal 1603, sotto la direzione dei lavori del vicerè di Napoli Giovanni Alfonso Pimentel de Herrera, allo scopo di potenziare il sistema difensivo e il controllo dei traffici.

Curiosità: Forte di Longone. All'interno del forte si trova una delle chiese più belle dell'isola, purtroppo non visitabile per via del carcere se non in particolari ricorrenze.
